Seriously? Fabulous. No place like it in the world. Many American dreams started here. Like many of my generation , my great grandparents and grandparents immigrated through Ellis Island from England and Sweden. I go down to Battery Park across from Ellis Island every time I am in New York. And while you’re in the neighborhood? Be sure to visit the Dead Rabbit. Coolest bar near the Staten Island Ferry. Wonderful selection of Irish whiskeys with friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. You will remember this place, always. In a good way. Know nothing about ☘️ whiskey 🥃? (Like me), just ask the friendly bar staff staff!

A lovely park to visit to see the water closer and a little bit of the Statue of Liberty. It's not the best park in NYC, but it's a good place to walk around and to also catch a ferry. There seem to be quite a few locals that hang out here as well, which is fun to see. Sometimes a lot of it is roped off an inaccessible though for different events.

Very lovely park right on the Hudson with great views of the water. Very convenient walking distance from the World Trade Center and surrounding financial district. Nice wide walkways that are well-maintained. Doesn't get the attention it deserves.

This is wonderful place to visit and in my opinion better than South Street seaport. Their is more options for you and your family to enjoy. Ice cream parlors and great pizzeria restaurants and you also have fine dining. Plus the view of the city and sporting activities and you can have a relax and picnic with a love one or friend. The city did an outstanding job. Making over this area of Brooklyn.

Really cool park! Has a bunch of fields to sit in, each secluded from the others so even though there are a lot of people overall it feels like you're with a small group. Lots of statues, a few kinetic art pieces that you can interact with, and a lot of trees and foliage. Excellent bike paths, and excellent paths that are a little out of the way that connect back to Brooklyn or make you feel like you're in a little secluded world. Also within walking distance of the famous pizza places, the ice cream place, and many wonderful views of the water and city.

It’s one of the common tourist spot. The main building has an amazing architecture structure and looks amazing from both inside and outside. I was fortunate enough to visit the place from inside and it was a great experience. Really love the inside of this amazing place. The columns, ceiling it all of it just gives you totally different vibe. Also there’s New York city hall park right beside, which is open for public and a good spot to sit down and enjoy the day.

To be honest the exhibits were sparse and small during my visit (sep 2021) that had no real depth to them. It felt more like a multimedia gallery space than a museum. It’s true the roof deck has a great view, but the space up there is empty... no chairs, and a lost opportunity to have a nice cafe up there. If you have to spend the $18 to get in, I honestly would skip the new museum.

Smaller museums can be a hit or miss depending on exhibits. The day I went to the New Museum, it was all misses. The entire building was pretty much filled with video installation art. It's a shame, because I do feel the building has enough space for the curators to fill it with mixture of exhibits that appeal to wider group of audience. The top floor has a nice view but the doors to outside were locked and the floor looked unfinished. At $18, it’s a steep price of admission, so be sure to check the website to see the exhibits appeal to you before stopping by.

Museum building was nice, but that's about it. The art was so far out there, it was completely lost. Maybe if you were high or mentally ill, this collection would seem plausible. I wouldn't waste your time.

Fantastic experience! I'd recommend to all, but if you have family history that goes through the Lower East Side this is a 100% must see attraction. The staff was superb and our guide, David, could answer any and every question, and his regular spiel was wonderful. The gift shop has a lot of wonderful things, including many amazing books. I did the 1911 A Day In The Life. In almost two hours David took us through one family's journey to through Ellis Island, into and then out of the Lower East Side for 50 years of immigrant history. You get to see and hear what life was like. The harships, the work, the assimilation, the centrality of family ties.

We did the Hard Times 1880's tour this afternoon. Kyle (tour guide) did an excellent job of sharing information and answering questions. We got a good feel for the history and social culture. Well worth the ticket cost, and if we were here longer, I'd love to go for another tour. Well done!

We did not know what to expect from the museum. It is not a museum in a traditional way but there are different tours ($30 per person and tour) through the old buildings with the original interior from past days. The 1911-tour (75min) with Victoria was amazing! Her knowledge and way of telling the stories was impressive. It was not only about the lower east side but also about the development of the whole city. One could really feel the the atmosphere from the past times. We would absolutely recommend the tour to everyone who wants to learn interesting facts from the past in a very interesting way.

Beautiful. Honestly, what more can I say. Stunning church, lots of history, amazing arches, stained glass that will amaze most people, clean location. Top destination to visit if you have the chance. I attended a wedding here recently and it couldn't have been better. The staff was wonderful, the clergy were amazing. The cemetery has so much history in it. Go here to see if, even if you cannot go inside.

Zero reason for it to be closed right now... zero. We've been inside just about every NYC attraction on this trip, including fully packed elbow to elbow Broadway theater! All required masks and proof of vaccines so why couldn't this place?? Seems lazy and disrespectful to tourists who may not get another opportunity to visit... Super annoyed as it was one of the must sees for us.

Exactly twenty years ago today while passing by, I saw a blonde dude dueling the former President of the USA on the roof with Japanese katanas. The blonde dude won, and the President fell off of the roof and landed on the base of the George Washington statue out front. Besides that, the building has a really nice Greek Revival style architecture. I recommend a visit!

Federal Hall is a historic building at 26 Wall Street in the Financial District of Manhattan, New York City. The name refers to two structures on the site: a Federal style building completed in 1703, and the current Greek Revival-style building completed in 1842. While only the first building was officially called "Federal Hall", the current structure is operated by the National Park Service as a national memorial called the Federal Hall National Memorial. The original building served as New York's first City Hall. It was the site where the colonial Stamp Act Congress met to draft its message to King George III claiming entitlement to the same rights as the residents of Britain and protesting "taxation without representation". After the American Revolution, in 1785, the building served as meeting place for the Congress of the Confederation, the nation's first central government under the Articles of Confederation. With the establishment of the United States federal government in 1789, it was renamed Federal Hall, as it hosted the 1st Congress and was the place where George Washington was sworn in as the nation’s first president. It was demolished in 1812. The current structure, one of the best surviving examples of Greek Revival architecture in New York City, was built as the U.S. Custom House for the Port of New York.[5] Later it served as a sub-Treasury building. The current national memorial commemorates the historic events that occurred at the previous structure. The building was designated a city landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1965 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1966. It is also a contributing property to the Wall Street Historic District, a NRHP district created in 2007.

George Washington used to pray at this chapel. There is obelisk in cemetery here that aligns perfectly to form a straight line with two other obelisks (Cleopatra's needle & Worth obelisk) --- Does this mean anything? The obelisk in the middle is directly across from the masonic lodge. Cleopatra's needle is directly linked to the original freemasons (Egyptian stone workers) and the obelisk at this chapel has no body buried underneath... it is a "fake" obelisk...?? George Washington was a Freemason...

The oldest church in Manhattan from 1766. I always visit here every time I come down to NYC on 9/11. Love walking through the cemetery. Really good examples of memento mori dotted on some of the tombstones that are still legible. I didn't go inside this time (and didn't feel like going through a metal detector) but last time I was here a few years ago I got to look at the gorgeuous interior. Even if you're not religious or Christian you can still admire the Georgian architecture. Also there's a neat memorial for someone on the side written in English, Gaelic, and Latin. There's also a grave in French. So cool

COURT.... nothing good or uplifting around here👎 This is most certainly where you're going to be, should you encounter any legal issues, or jury duty. Typically, a gloomy area anyway, people aren't generally around here for the area's pleasures, THAT'S for sure. Whether you work within one of the many intricately columned, roman-style courthouses, or if you're entangled in any of the many kinds of legal jousting, it's not beauty, pleasure, or even relaxation which attract the many crowds of people to the square, daily.

This was the place I went to in order to purchase a ticket to the boat that goes to the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island. There were a lot of cool monuments around the area as well. There are bathrooms inside also which is extremely useful in New York. I think it is possible to buy the city pass there. Ask for more information, but I believe that pass is one of the best bargains in New York City.

Nice little "fort" at the ferry terminal for the Statue of Liberty. This is going through the much needed renovation right now so it has scaffolding all around it, and anything inside is closed due to the pandemic. However, it is a nice place to look around and see what it was like back in the day with a little history!

I do not recommend hosting any events here. The event planner, I believe her title is director of operations, was rude to us from the beginning, acting annoyed and put out when we came to view the space, but I just thought she was having a bad day. Turns out that's just her permanent attitude. We planned our wedding ceremony here then the pandemic hit. Instead of working with us to host a smaller outdoor event with precautions in place, the event planner there seemed to take joy in laughing in our faces about how it was never going to happen, they were the first to cancel on us despite the fact that we had a contract with them, even when our other indoor space and all of our other vendors were trying to work with us. The event planner at the Carousel would not even allow us to take photos at the carousel the day we got married at The River Cafe instead. I even pleaded with the woman and showed her that I bought my wedding dress to specifically match the colors of the carousel but she didn't even care to allow us to take a few photos there. This is not someone you want involved in any day that is supposed to be happy. I recommend The River Cafe if you love that area and the views of the bridge. Everyone there was extremely kind and understanding of our predicament and we had a really special wedding there.

This is a small, hide away corner in the midst of the busy lower Manhattan. It's quiet and very few people find it. If you have time, go into the museum, lots to see, read, learn, and tears to share. A great place to contemplate a past history of forced human migration and to reflect how to can we live together as brothers and sisters in a modern, civil society. Beautiful and meaningful patterns on the granite walls. Garden offer a very interesting perspective views for photographers. Do not let the children walk on top of the burial mounts/tombs.

This is a powerful monument that is a national park service unit. The inside is closed (it's located inside a federal building) probably due to the pandemic, but the outside if open. There are plaques that describe how this monument came to be and provides a great learning experience. Go check it out while in NY - a good way to spend an hour learning about black history in NYC.

Yes, it is made somewhat famous by being the major set piece and backdrop for the television show Law & Order but many of us who live in New York County know it as one of the court houses where we go to serve on jury duty every five years. Whether visiting on purpose as a tourist or on jury duty or other county-related business sans handcuffs you owe it to yourself to walk into the central rotunda and take a few minutes to stare up at the art adorning it. Beautiful, even if a somewhat dated painting style. Doubtful there will ever be another courthouse built quite like it. Keep in mind though, you CANNOT take photos inside the building. Check out my photo of a poster of the rotunda art for a preview.

The Battery Conservancy is incredible! With a walking/running/biking path, benches along the path for seating, a park, boat docks and boats to boot, restaurants nearby, basketball courts, gardens and a view of Jersey City and the Statue of Liberty enjoying oneself here couldn't be easier. I could go on and on about the Battery Conservancy but simple and short is the way I'll keep the review. It's a great place to take a date anytime day or night. Like many, many, many other New Yorkers, this is where I take whoever comes to visit me when they want to see the Statue of Liberty. The ferry come pretty close to the statue, and it's free! So, why not? The terminal is nice and modern, although I think they should have the time of the next ferry on the big screen on top and not on a small sign next to the door... The ferry itself is really big, so you could always find a place to sit.
